Air Philippines Employees' Cooperative (APEC)
A Primary, Non-Agricultural, Multi-Purpose Cooperative established under the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, specifically Republic Act No. 9520.
Membership
Membership is open to any natural person, Filipino Citizen, of legal age and with capacity to contract. Membership may be Regular (entitled to all rights and priveleges) or Associate (no right to vote/be voted upon and entitled only to such limited rights and priveleges). An applicant to a Regular/Associate membership, shall file a duly accomplished Form with a membership fee of PhP 100.00. Minimum share capital subscription of PhP 12,000.00 per member payable one time or through continuous capital build-up. No member shall own or hold more than 20% of total subscribed share capital.
Capitalization
The Authorized Share Capital is Ten Million Pesos (PhP 10,000,000..00) divided into Ten Million Common Shares (10,000,000.00) with a par value of One Peso (PhP 1.00) per
Performance Record
APEC membership, over a ten-year period, grew fro 22 members in December 2001 to 319 members in October 31, 2011. This increase translates to 1,350% or 14.5x despite the fact that it only became active operationally in 2004 or 3 years fro CDA registration.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
SEVEN COOPERATIVE PRINCIPLES
1. Voluntary and Open Membership
Cooperatives are voluntary organizations, open to all people who use their services and are willing to accept the responsibilities of membership.
2. Democratic Member Control
Cooperatives are democratic organizations controlled by their members, one member-one vote, who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions.
3. Members' Economic Participation
Members contribute equally to, and democratically control the capital of the cooperative.
4. Autonomy and Independence
Cooperatives are autonomous, self-help organizations controlled by their members.
5. Education and Training
Cooperatives provide education and training for members, elected representatives, managers and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their cooperatives.
6. Cooperation Among Cooperatives
Cooperatives serve their members most effectively and strengthen the cooperative movement by working together through local, national, regional and international structures.
7. Concern for Community
While focusing on members' needs, cooperatives work for the sustainable development of communities through policies accepted by the members.
